Social Media Marketing (SMM) is a set of multi-purpose strategies, conceived specifically for social network platforms, through which companies and brands seek to promote their products or services, reach new clients or increase and improve current clients and construct and spread their image and values.

The aim is to boost the digital presence of the brand or subject in question, because digital presence is closely linked to the visibility and positioning of a brand, and – further down a long chain – the purchasing decisions of the end user.
